I’m not one to go to Michelin starred restaurants very often as they can be quite pricey and I prefer a laid back dining vibe. However I discovered that the Ledbury (2 Michelin stars) has a great lunch menu offer during the week (£35 – starter, main and dessert) and thought what better way to celebrate the half way mark on researching, writing and testing recipes for my next book than with a little lunch.

I have an obsession with tiles, so take pictures of them whenever I spot them. Old vintage tiles are my favourite. The colours, motifs and slightly chipped edges. I do hope that when I eventually move (no plans for the moment – I’m still in the Little Paris Kitchen) I’ll be able to find beautiful tiles, like these for my new kitchen.

This post is sponsored by Canon.

There’s nothing like some sweet spiced mulled wine and ice skating (well it was more me clinging to the side) to get you into the seasonal spirit. Especially when the setting is as beautiful as Somerset house.

Normally I like my day of rest but this Sunday I spent it cooking, eating and filming a new BBC show at Teddinton Studios with Michel Roux jr and Kate Goodman. Not bad for a days work no matter what day of the week …

In this week’s Evening Standard column, I turned to a family favourite of mine, a quick and tasty dinner my Austrian Grandma would rustle up on special occasions. Pick up a hard copy for your journey home, or check it out online here.
