Behind the Scenes of a Youtube Shoot
Have you seen my Youtube channel? It's now been about 6 months of videos! What do you think so far? Last week I had a jam-packed day of filming new recipes - creating a delicious selection of barbecue and picnic ideas for your summer table.
Unlike my TV shows, where I have there's quite a team of people (though not huge like Masterchef), my Youtube videos are much less glamorous. We film in my London kitchen with me, my cameraman Archie and my assistant Lara. Archie worked with me throughout my Cosmopolitan Cook and London Notebook series, so it's great to still to be working with him for my channel.
I thought it'd be fun to show you what goes on during a Youtube shooting day: from recipe creation, to preparing, styling and finally shooting with my lovely team (aka myself, Archie and Lara!)
With a lot of prep and planning, we managed to squeeze in 10 new videos for my channel. An exciting mix of fresh summer dishes, variations on classic culinary condiments and my tips for a foolproof BBQ or picnic. Our filming is more natural and less polished than my TV shows, giving you a glimpse of what it's really like in the kitchen with me (without editing out the mistakes or spillages!).
Once we have filmed each recipe, Lara captures the final styled dish for sharing on social media, along with any behind the scenes photos too. Archie then pieces the videos together, ready for my channel and for you to enjoy!
Kitchen is prepped and ready to go - I love using fresh and vibrant fruits in my videos. The tiles are from Bert and May, they remind me of my Little Paris Kitchen!
Barbecuing on the balcony, like a true Londoner.
Curating a collection of Summer flavoured water: perfect for picnics and surviving the London heat.
You can never have too many peonies. They are a beautiful addition to Youtube shoots and food styling.
