eat/share/listen with Lillie @ London Borough of Jam
A visit to Lillie's London Borough of Jam
When we were filming my new television show, 'Rachel Khoo's Kitchen Notebook', I had the pleasure of visiting Lillie O'Brien at her little jam haven, the London Borough of Jam. Hailing from Australia, but cooking up a (jam) storm in Hackney, Lillie shares some of her inspiration here in my latest eat/share/listen Q&A. Thanks, Lillie! You can try my jam tart recipe inspired by Lillie's lovely jams here.
(eat) my fail-safe dish…
At the moment I've been cooking lots of braises as it has been getting colder. I love dishes such as Osso Bucco, or dishes that just need slow gentle cooking and not much else. I always make a large pot so that there are leftovers to toss through some pasta.
(eat) favourite restaurant and why…
I absolutely love
Mayfields restaurant in East London
. The chef Matthew Young is cooking some really exciting dishes, it's so refreshing to be eating something a bit different to what everyone else is doing. I'm also waiting in anticipation for my friend James Lowe to open his restaurant, Lyle's, which is set to open in Shoreditch this April.
(share) can’t get through the day without… A warm bowl of porridge with my Rhubarb and Cardamom Jam.
(share) recent inspiring find I’ve discovered online…
As I come from Melbourne, Australia I recently started subscribing to
, an online magazine that helps me keep up to date with what's going on in the food and drink industry. It's nice to be able to still keep in touch with my hometown.
