Guest Judge on My Kitchen Rules, Australia

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t seen the 7th series of MKR stop reading now.

I’ve been sworn to secrecy for months now, but can finally reveal some exciting news – I’ll be appearing as a guest judge on season seven of the popular Australian television show, My Kitchen Rules (MKR).

My Kitchen Rules Australia

It was a bit of a secret mission, and a number of you asked why I was holidaying in Australia last year – well, I was on-set filming six episodes of the show with co-judge Colin Fassnidge.

For those of you who don’t know, MKR is a competitive cooking show. Friends, family members, workmates and acquaintances with a shared love of food team-up and take on a number of cooking challenges. One of the most notorious is the ‘instant restaurant’ round, where teams are required to cook a three course meal for the other contestants. Their food, ambiance, and attention to detail is scrutinised by the judges – including me!

MKR airs on Australia’s Channel Seven from Monday-Wednesdays at 7.30pm, and on Sundays at 7pm. I’ll be appearing in episodes 13-18, starting from 22 February. All episodes will be available to watch online.

Filming was hectic. We would flit from one side of the country to the next, and back again to film in various locations. But, I loved every minute of it and it allowed me the rare opportunity to peek inside other people’s kitchens (trust me, I don’t get dinner invites that often!).

I even managed to fit in some fun and recreation, which you may have seen on my Instagram.

Australia is a stunning country, and I had the most amazing time exploring beautiful beaches and landscapes.

Head over to Khoollect for a roundup of the clothes I wore on the show. My lovely MKR stylist helped me to select some great pieces by Australian designers, and I’m excited to share them with you.

  1. The fact I endured my first ever reality TV show solely to see you as guest judge is testament to how much I admire you Rachel.
    You didn’t disappoint.
The stunning vintage-inspired red dress and dainty silver bracelet in the promo had me convinced from the get-go it was going to be you.

  2. I love MKR and you’ve made watching it fun again! Love your adorable outfits and also your advice to the contestants 🙂 x

  3. Hello Rachel! You’re definitely the best chef they’ve ever put on MKR!! You’re so talented and absolutely stunning!
BTW, I was wondering where you got that beautiful yellow and white striped dress from…? The one you were wearing on the first instant restaurant…?

Can’t wait to see more of you! All the best xx

  4. Hi Rachel,

I have to say that before MKR I didn’t know much about you, but after seeing you on the show and checking out your website you are a breath of fresh air. It was great to see a female perspective of the food dished up and being a fan watching it every year, it is finally great to see someone like you giving opinions and advice. Pete, Manu and Colin are all great but you add the flavour it really needs. My only regret is that you are only doing the instant restaurant rounds. I would love to see you throwing the contestants a challenge or 2 of your own. Hopefully we will get to see you back soon.

Love your website and your energy and passion for food which has only added to my inspiration to follow your recipes and ideas and bring them into my family circle to share.

    Many thanks to you.

  5. Spoilers! I clicked the link to watch the episodes online (rather than wait for one a day from Sky Living) and got greeted by news of the winners. Completely ruined this series of my favourite cooking show whilst I’m still on the instant restaurant rounds. Not happy. But congratulations on the show Rachel.
