A selection of tasty treats for dessert

If you’ve seen Zumbo’s Just Desserts, which is currently airing in New Zealand, you will know that I’m a big fan of pudding. From the spectacular to the elegantly simple, I like to make time for a good dessert after a meal. Here are some of my favourites for you to try at home, taken from my cookbooks and my digital lifestyle magazine: Khoollect.

sweet-pumpkin-pudding-bite-e1477309276275This deliciously sweet pumpkin pudding is a personal favourite and a great way to finish any meal. Find the full recipe at Khoollect.

eton-mess-683x1024For a lighter option, this rose water meringue mess is just the ticket. It’s also super easy to make!

Crème brûlée is a childhood favourite of mine. But, ever since tasting an awful one on my first trip to Paris, I developed my own. You can find the full recipe for this one in my Little Paris Kitchen cookbook.

afternoon-tea-loaves-02-e1479121959473These afternoon tea loaves are a great treat to serve with tea for friends. We have the full recipe over on Khoollect.

With only three main ingredients, you can whip up my meringue and chestnut-cream mountain. The full recipe is featured in my Little Paris Kitchen.

super-glam-cake-01-683x1024-1Another favourite of mine, for when you’re hosting a party. Go all out with the super party glam cake. Full recipe on Khoollect.

For a french twist on a classic British bread and butter pudding, try my raspberry and grape brioche and butter pudding from Rachel Khoo’s Kitchen Notebook.

cook-for-syria-apple-cake-683x1024-3I developed this recipe for a great campaign that celebrates Syrian cuisine. Inspired by Middle-Eastern food, this spiced semolina apple cake is jam-packed with a heady mix of spices and, of course, lots of apples. Full recipe on Khoollect.

I got experimental, building landscapes with this chocolate and crème fraîche tart. Create your own with the recipe from My Little French Kitchen.

For a more tangy dessert, try my lemon lava cakes from Rachel Khoo’s Kitchen Notebook. With a punchy lemon flavour and exploding centre, these are sure to be enjoyed by all.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do…

  1. Cute site, I found this while trying to find your nickerbocker glory recipe that I just saw the end of on the cooking channel. Please tell me where I can find it. I love new food ideas and that’s a new one for me.

  2. Dear Rachel,

I’ve tried to make your crème brûlée from your Little Paris Kitchen Cookbook, but it’s too liquid.

    1. What size eggs do you use? The size of the egg yolks will effect the thickness. Also have you checked that your oven temperature is correct? That could also be another reason.
