Meine französische Küche – Launch of the German My Little French Kitchen book

Update: Congratulations to Shuai in Berlin. You’ve won a copy of ‘My Little French Kitchen’!

Last Friday I put my German into practice with the launch of ‘Meine französische Küche’, the German version of ‘My Little French Kitchen’ (keep reading for details about my book giveaway below). It was a whistle-stop tour with a book signing in the morning, and breakfast with the lovely DK team (my German publishers). Afterwards, I headed to the delightful Die Mercerie. The beautiful wools, fabrics and threads had me wishing I could knit.

Traditional ‘Kaffee und Kuchen’ (coffee and cakes) were on the menu. My German was really put to the test chatting to a small gathering of bloggers and journalists about the book. Luckily I got through it with the odd French or English word thrown in.

GIVEAWAY: I have a signed copy of ‘Meine französische Küche’ to give away to one of my readers in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.

For your chance to win, leave a comment here on my blog (bonus points if you spread the word via your own blog, Twitter, Instagram or Facebook – include the hashtag #rachelkhoogermangiveaway!). I’ll be drawing a winner on Tuesday March 18, so you have until Monday March 17 to enter. Viel Glück!

P.S. A quick reminder that my Dutch giveaway is live until March 13.

The fine print: This giveaway is open to residents of Germany, Austria or Switzerland (or you’re welcome to enter from other destinations, if you have a friend/family member based in any of these countries who can receive the book at their address). Any queries, send me an email :)

A bunch of friends keeping a watchful eye on my German books 🙂

  1. I saw your television show more or less by accident on new years eve and I was instantly hooked – I had to watch the whole season in one go.

And I´d love to try some of the recipies!

  2. Dear Rachel,

You are my recent “Discovery”. I had seen one of your programmes somewhere and realised what and how you cook definitely appeals to me! I have grown up in a place with a tiny kitchen and never thought one could learn to cook in such a small place and there you are with your delicious dishes, done in minutes in a tiny place in Paris! There and then I decided to learn to cook. At the same time I started a course in French. I was already a happy woman, as it all happened withing weeks, when today I have heard about your cook book published in German! What else could I wish for? Well, congratulations on your success, especially that German is not an easy language!

  3. I hope you liked Germany and will come back soon 🙂 What a pity, I couldn´t come to the book signing. Maybe I´m lucky and win one… Anyway, I wish you all the best and: DANKE for making our evenings and weekends delicious!

  4. I’m a British student currently on my year abroad in Germany, but have spent the last 6 months in France. The book would be brilliant for extending my German cookery vocabulary as well as getting to try out recipes that remind me of my time in France. A great book to tie together my love of languages and food!!

  5. I love your recipes whether they be in English or German! I have your first book so would love to have the second one also so that I can get busy in my little Swiss kitchen. P.S. So glad you had the book launch at Die Mercerie as that means you have now given me the tip for a great fabric store as well as an excuse to visit Munich again!

  6. Like your recipes 🙂

    And i love France.

I would be very glad if i’ll win this lovely book to take it with me to France … i’m starting an adventure the next weeks 🙂

    Best regards

  7. Ich liebe Rachel Khoo ihre Bücher und die Art und Weise wie sie kocht! Dieser Gewinn wäre der absolute Hammer!

  8. Dear Rachel,

my 12-year-old-sons best friend is French and so my son loves everything that has to do with France. He just asked me to cook french meals. So we went to the libary, looking for a suitable french cookbook. Could you imagine they didn’t have one?!

So I’d like to take part in this giveaway to bring the french flair into my family that we love so much in our friends family!

  9. I am a great fan of Thanh’s Eat little bird, all the way from South Africa. Loved her interview with you BTW. We met on a FB cooking group where you are more than the flavour of the month. You are so well respected your name is in lights. Your fame even reaches down to us at the bottom of Africa, we even get to see some of your shows here. I adore the little strawberry water colour on your intro. I’d love to share you with my Swiss family and how better to do that than if you could send them a copy of you lovely book. AND when are you coming to visit us in South Africa we’d love to show you around.

  10. dear Rachel,
coming from switzerland – the home of chocolate – i especially love your Dessert recipes! and you’re such a sweet Person, which makes reading your books and watching your Show even more fun 🙂

as we would say in switzerland “du bisch eifach äs riiiiise schätzi!”
(swissgerman for “you’re such a Sweetheart”)

  11. Hi Rachel, I love your recipes and would love to own your new book! One of your recipes “Trout in a parcel” is simply awesome. I wish you all the best in your career! Cheers, Lee Yuen

Hallo Rachel, Ich liebe deine Rezepte und moechte dein neues Buch gewinnen. Alles Gute fuer deine Karriere! Viele Gruesse, Lee Yuen

  13. Dear Rachel, I love your recipes in “My Little Paris Kitchen” and I´m sure I´d love your new book, too!
In Austria (where I live) it was hard to get your book in English so I´m even happier to know it´s out in German now, too!

    Love, Sabrina

  14. Ich habe gerade das erste Buch “My little Paris kitchen” gelesen und liebe es. Ein wunderbares Buch! Dankeschoen!

I have just your first book ‘My little Paris kitchen’ and love it. A wonderful book! Thank you!

  15. Oh no! I live in Munich, but was in London when you were signing books. I do hope that you’ll return for more Pretzels soon! That said, the next best thing to the book signing is winning a signed copy, so do count me in.

  16. Greetings from Berlin!

I love your show. I had a “little paris kitchen” marathon pretty much as soon as I discovered your clips in youtube. All six episodes in one day.

Thanks for the great recipes and also for showing me how to manage to make great meals in such a small space, considering that I will soon be moving to a 35m2 flat in the center of the city.

  17. Dear Rachel!

I adore the way you work with food – and I’d really appreciate to be able to cook some of your recipes. And as I’m a student, I can’t really afford the luxury of buying the book myself! 🙂

    Thanks for your inspiration!

  18. Dear Rachel,

we loved you first tv series in Paris and bought immediately your book. We’d love to see your Kitchen Notebook London but we don’t have BBC lifestye or nordic 🙁 Its a shame! Anyway we really love your way of cooking and would be deligthed to win the signed copy. We would cook something from the book and put it on our own cooking blog 🙂
