Getting Scandi with it: my top Nordic tips
Now that I'm spending a lot of time in Sweden, I feel more inspired by my surroundings than ever before. The Swedes have a unique, minimalist and delicious approach to all things fashion, design and, of course, fika. If you haven't heard of fika before, it's a Swedish concept that literally translates as 'to have coffee', which is usually accompanied with a traditional pastry such as a kanelbullar or semlor bun. Similar to a British afternoon tea (sans the tea!), a day doesn't pass where I don't indulge in a little fika and take a break from hours spent behind my laptop or rushing about.
For those reading this post from the Southern Hemisphere, I hear the weather is beginning to cool again (at last!), making it the perfect time to embrace the Nordic way of life.
For as long as I've been travelling to Scandinavian countries, I've been inspired by the cuisine, the breathtaking landscapes and the cosy and authentic atmosphere you'll find in most of the Nordic cities. I'm a big hygge advocate, and there's nothing like berry-picking in the Scandinavian wilderness or going for a long walk in the frosty countryside. If you've never travelled to any Scandinavian countries before, that's not a problem. You can emulate a little bit of Swedish fika or Danish hygge wherever you are, at any time of year!
